Description: | The 2006 Israel-Lebanon war in July/August 2006 caused major damages to Lebanon’s infrastructure. The conflict was stopped by a ceasefire on 14th of August 2006. One week later the German Government sent an official delegation, headed by German Foreign Office (AA). THW as part of this delegation carried out a fact-finding mission and subsequently launched projects for the rehabilitation of water supply systems in the South of Lebanon in close cooperation with Southern Lebanon Water Establishment (SLWE): - Rehabilitation of more than 8,000 house connections, funded by AA - Implementation of 30 chlorine dosing systems for 150,000 beneficiaries, funded by BMU - Rehabilitation of elevated water tanks for central water supply system for 14,000 beneficiaries, funded by ECHO - Operation of water analysis laboratory including capacity development for local staff, funded by UNICEF |
